A YEAR OF EVENTS
Cavallino-Treporti can be experienced all year round. There are numerous events that enliven the area for the whole 12 months. The driving force behind these events is the dedication of local associations: volunteers who are truly tireless. Some of the most popular events during the Epiphany include the “beroloni”, hundreds of large farmers’ bonfires that are lit all over the countryside in the municipality every year between the 5th and 6th January.
For Carnival there are parades of allegorical floats organised by groups of local builders who, every year, offer the most modern construction techniques. These parades also take place in Summer, so that tourists can admire the flair and technique skill of these local float builders.
To mark the arrival of the warm weather and of the first tourists, there is the “Festa dea Sparesea” dedicated to asparagus, one of the many typical local products.
June is the turn of the “Palio Remiero”, which recreates ancient Lagoon tradition and the tireless work of local farmers who, up to 60 years ago, crossed the Lagoon on board “caorline” (typical Lagoon vessels) to reach Venice and sell their produce in the market of the Rialto. The 12 Contrade (local districts) in the municipality challenge each other in a contest that involves various sports, including the atmospheric Venetian rowing competition. The most eagerly-awaited Summer events include the festivals of the Madonna del Carmine, the “Tempeston” and the “Suchetta”, which re-evoke local traditions, combined with concerts, cabaret shows and rowing competitions.
In August the key event is “Beach on Fire”, the longest firework display in the world, during which thousands of fireworks are launched from 10 positions along the beach. Summer is also full of concerts, theatre performances and open-air cinema.
Theatre performances, concerts and exhibitions are also organised during Winter months.
