A YOUNG MUNICIPALITY WITH AN ANCIENT HISTORY
The early 20th century was the period of large scale land reclamation that mapped out the territory as it is today. This era also saw the construction of the military forts and batteries used in the two world wards. Thus, in the 1930s, Cavallino-Treporti began a period of development that strengthened its agricultural vocation and made it one of Italy’s most important areas for agriculture today. Tourism also developed equally strongly and the sector grew from the 1950s onwards. Thanks to around 30 campsites, overlooking 15 km of beach, Cavallino-Treporti is a leading European resort for open air tourism, with over 6 million overnight stays each year.
