FROM CAVALLINO-TREPORTI TO THE HISTORIC CENTRE OF VENICE

Cavallino-Treporti is the main port of access for the historic centre of Venice. Embarking from the terminal at Punta Sabbioni, you can reach Venice by a 40 minute boat trip with departures every half hour (see www.actv.it for information on the sailing times of public boats). The arrival point is the central Riva degli Schiavoni. From here you can begin a discovery of what is rightly called one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It only takes a few minutes’ walk from your arrival point to the Rialto Bridge and the galleries of the Accademia, as well as, of course, St. Mark’s Square, with its basilica of the same name, Palazzo Ducale and St. Mark’s bell tower. Cavallino-Treporti is therefore the ideal departure point for visiting Venice, with its museums, churches and art galleries. Naturally, walking through the calli, Venice’s characteristic narrow streets, you can also ‘lose yourself’ and discover the most secret and atmospheric corners of this city suspended on water. Visit the Arsenal, the church of Santa Maria della Salute, the basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari and the synagogues of the Ghetto, without forgetting the Biennale, the Church of San Rocco, the archaeological museum, the Correr Museum, Palazzo Camerlenghi, Palazzo Fortuny and Palazzo Grassi.

With just a short boat ride from Cavallino-Treporti you can also discover the islands of the Northern Lagoon. In this case you depart from the Terminal at Punta Sabbioni or the Ricevitoria in Treporti. Don’t miss Burano, the island featuring colourful houses and known for its original lace-making. Another important stop is Murano, the place where for centuries master glassmakers have forged enchanting works of art in glass. Then on to Torcello, the cradle of civilisation for Venice and the Veneto, with its basilica, tower and archaeological and medieval museum.

These are breathtaking visits, full of culture in which you can fully immerse yourself in tradition – including that of food and wine – thanks to the numerous restaurants you’ll find along the way in this atmospheric area. You will sail through a wonderful landscape on the Northern Lagoon, with its enviable backdrop, which presents scenes that display the full beauty of nature and of a unique environment.
